Methodology
TimeCost estimates your personal hourly cost by dividing monthly expenses by the number of hours in a 30-day month (720 hours). This is an informational spending breakdown, not financial advice.
Formula
hourly_cost = monthly_expenses / (30 × 24)
Benchmarks
Category benchmarks (housing 35%, food 15%, transport 10%, subscriptions 10%, other 30%) are illustrative averages used for overspend alerts in the PRO report.
Data sources
- Minimum wage: Eurostat
earn_minw(EU + candidates + USA), ILOSTAT for global coverage - Consumption benchmarks: World Bank WDI household final consumption expenditure
Each metric stores its own currency_code and unit. We avoid lossy
normalization at ingestion.
